Zoltan

A mysterious black cabinet sits before you, a backlit sign glows ominously: "ZOLTAN". A large pulsating button beckons.

Inspired by the Zoltar machine from the movie BIG with a heavy splash of Max Headroom, Zoltan blends themes of technology and 80's capitalism with the mysticism of fortune telling.

I designed and built the Zoltan machine from scratch, a Raspberry Pi is at Zoltans heart surrounded by an array of custom electronics to drive the actuators, lights, and an old wireless CCTV reciver CRT was hacked to be Zoltans head. A custom python framework is used to script all the animations and sequence the media playback.
